For over ten years, New Zealand-based Virscient has been enriching lives around the world. With a growing number of big brands under their belt, including the likes of Samsung and Qualcomm, their customers are based primarily in Europe and the US.

Virscient provides engineering consultancy to help companies design, develop, and integrate game-changing, secure wireless components, products, and systems. With experience spanning technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRaWAN, and more, Virscient enables multinational organisations to achieve their technical and strategic objectives.

Thanks to their in-house consultants and specialists, including project managers, product engineers, security and compliance experts, and software specialists, they successfully guide clients through the whole process from prototyping to deployment. Music and audio, systems for environmental monitoring, increased safety and comfort in our modern cars, contract tracing for public health use – these are just a handful of applications of their wireless technology.

Success creates challenges

As a busy and growing organisation, their success created some challenges. It became increasingly hard to carve out the time and resources to review and improve their project management systems and processes.

They looked for an expert outside the organisation to help them move their project delivery to the next level.

Over the years, engineering services has become a core part of their business. They knew that by getting their processes and systems right, they could deliver the best and most consistent experience for all their customers. The benefits of excellent project delivery include delighting their consumers at the top-end of the market, standing out from their competitors, and attracting higher profits and repeat business.

How Technology Systems helped them address these challenges.

They didn’t want someone to merely oversee what they were doing but to scrutinise and challenge their existing processes, procedures, and systems. Ultimately, they needed to identify areas where they could improve and to close any gaps in the customer experience.

That’s why they engaged me in February 2021.

To get the most value from the experience, they wanted someone who could quickly and smoothly embed themselves in the organisation, who wasn’t prescriptive, and who would challenge their way of thinking and current ways of project delivery. I ticked all these boxes.

With my deep experience of Jira, I was also able to help Virscient understand how they could optimise their use of this tool to improve their project delivery.
